Unfortunately, my treadmill did not work last minute because of a stripped gear (see below) but I am proud of what I was able to make. It was a fulfilling learning process from builidng with wood, to sautering components, to coding an ESP32 that powered the largest stepper motor I've actively noticed. Fiona was happy about the outcome anyways. She will just continue to come with me everywhere in the meantime....
